Wild Inside Philosophy

I can show you how to box. I can teach you every technique and trick I know, but I can never make you a fighter. That comes from the inside, and it’s something no one else can ever give you.
— Joe Louis

The name ‘Wild Inside’ comes from the view that we all have unique gifts, experiences, and backgrounds. We also have inherent strengths that are available to us at all times. Recognizing the experiences, traumas, and strengths that each individual brings to class can empower them with more choice and confidence as they navigate the challenges that are unique to their lived experience.

Wild Inside believes that self-defense is a human right. The ability to navigate life with confidence, safety, and dignity is something that should be available to all regardless of age, physical ability, race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, or ability to pay. Limited scholarships (full and partial) are available for most classes. Please reach out directly if cost is a barrier to attendance.

Personal pledge

As an instructor I believe that knowing ourselves well and understanding our unique boundaries can help us establish a more safe and empowered experience as we move through day-to-day existence.

It is my goal and intention to hold a space of safety, dignity, and respect for everyone who comes to learn Self-Defense from me.

In my years of martial arts and teaching self-defense I have witnessed and experienced the intimidation and fear that can come with learning these skills.

What I wish to convey through my teaching is the pure kinetic joy and enrichment that comes when we immerse ourselves in our own Wild Inside and find it to be a place of strength, resilience, and power.

ALL ARE WELCOME IN THE SPIRIT OF AN

OPEN MIND AND OPEN HEART
